This week we begin with Rampage being down 0-7 on the scoreboard and dumping his emotions out on the poor old cardboard door. I have to give it to Scott Junk though, who fought his heart out against Matt and would have probably pulled it out if it were a three-round fight. In this type of tournament fight format you have to be smart with your game plan. Rampage's coaching was the downfall of Scott and his team. continue to full article »

Dana White sounds like he was a pure hater of Kimbo because of his success with street fighting. Let that man have his fame as a street fighter, who gives a damn if it isn't MMA, people surely ate it up (didn't they?), and thats all that matters on that note. The hate and the sheer want to beat him up because of his popularity sounds like some penis envy crap, and I hope he beats one of the haters into a coma or at least knocks some teeth out.
He will indeed need to learn a lot to survive in the sport, but I wish the man all the best and I hope he goes far with it. Don't hate because of who he is, because then there would be no reason to hate him (there is another thing, I just hope it wouldn't be that).

I hate it when fighters don't listen to their corner and their just relaxing on the ground while getting their butt kicked. You have to fight your opponent like they are trying to kill you and you have to take them out first, i'd say. I couldn't be a coach, i'd be like a maniac of a motivator on the side line.lol

Every Wednesday. Also I agree with you intellect no reason for a fight to stay on the ground not moving. But on another note I honestly think the guy was to damn stunned from that "HUGE, DEEP, cut on his forehead" I think that after that first round the fight should have been called. At the end of the show it said something about a possible fracture. With an abrasion of that magnitude the ref should have stopped it if the corner didn't. He was literally pouring onto the mat.

Everybody is all aimed at Kimbo, I think that is stupid. Everybody gets to be were they want to be 1 way or another, some come from Football teams, some come from smaller fighting companies, and he made his own destiny by using youtube to promote himself. Plain and simple, youtube was nothing more than a marketing tool that he used to promote himself, and it worked, cause the media took notice. I think that he is very smart for what he did, he didn't wait for a break in life, he chased his down. Everybody can loose a fight, it only takes one mistake when fighting at that level. Win or loose, nothing can take away the fact that he did what so many others just talked about.
Good luck to all the fighter's.

Rampage didn't seem to have much interest in driving any advice into his fighter. He just threw out a few "you've got to stand up" comments--but nothing else. I don't know if he didn't think it the guy would understand, or if he didn't think the guy would listen, or if he just felt the whole fight was a lost cause. Previous coaches would have been pulling a bit harder for their fighter.

Should it be the fighter's choice to continue or should the ref/doctors always have the power to step in to stop it any time they see fit? This super-bloody first fight was obviously more extreme than most, but if the fighter can honestly go on why not let him continue?

I have a question. Do Rampage and Rashad think that they'll be able to put their differences aside and concentrate on making the guys they're training better? Seemed like they were a little too worried about each other (and themselves) considering this is supposed to be a show about turning rough talent into UFC contenders.

Ok. here goes. So rampage got to pick the match-up and Rashad of course felt confident that he would take battle one.
My question is does Dana or anyone like the producers get involved and ever say to a coach "Dude, that's a really bad pick. you're gonna get slaughtered." when the cameras are off? I guess the question is do they receive any feedback so they are more educated to the for the next round of picks?

I can't fault Abe at all. The guy has a very limited ground game and struggled in this fight. Rather than fault him I give him huge credit for not throwing in the towel and seeing out the fight. That was a really nasty injury and I for one would want no part of another round after that.

Just like Bas Rutten says there is no way your going to learn a new technique in the middle of a fight. Any fighter should have escapes and subs and sweeps that ingrained in his head long before he steps in the cage, the job of the cornerman is to give support and encouragement. It's not Rampages fault that a guy he met the day before can't get back to his feet or sweep the guy on top.

When coaching you need to yell very general things, when I get coached and coach in wrestling you can't just start yelling technical things because they won't register at all. Sometimes a fighter may even go deaf or get the tunnel vision when he's in the cage.

I saw nothing wrong with this fight really, save for a good example of how the cage changes fights so much. The ground game is 1000% different in the middle of the ring as opposed to being against the cage.

All people were formerly something else at one point in their lives, right? Franklin was a teacher. Seems to me that having a football background or other high intensity sport would help your body be more in tune physically than say an engineer, (Carwin). If you're willing to put the time in then you should be given a chance.

Rampage why haven't you responded to Rashad upon him taunting you about losing only one fight? I mean you lost to some great competition and they were in their prime. Sakuraba, Wanderlei, Shogun all these fighters were at a very high level of caliber and who has Rashad fought? He lost to Tito but got lucky cause of the point deduction, he got lucky when he beat Bisping, and he beat Chuck when Chuck was going downhill. I mean, you knocked the crap out of Henderson, Chuck, and you should have won the Forrest Fight. So what is going on Rampage? You need to step up and shut Rashad's nipple tweaking, showboating, cocky, Machida's bitch ass up. Rampage you can't change what happened cause the show is over but please tell me you have spent time thinking bout matchups instead of being overconfident all of this season of the TUF 10.

p.s. some changes the question was why can't you respond to Rashad more definitively about losing your fights in comparison to him losing only one? I mean his fights were crap, the competition was much better in your day. And correction you didn't knock the crap out of Henderson, you beat the crap out of Henderson but knocked the smile, lights and cocky attitude out of Wanderlei. Which is worth a standing ovation but im sitting so ill give you sitting ovation. l8rs Rampage. And Rashad tweak your nipples and shut up. Rashad you were just pms-ing cause your homie Jardine got cracked and smacked for 3 rounds to a loss. I hope Rampage knocks you out so hard that you curl up into the fetal position and go back to your momma's belly. Go Kimbo!

The first fight, while a one sided blood fest, have really whet my appetite for this series.
I am still new to the MMA (UFC / TUF) and don't know why there is so much history between Rampage and Rashad, but I think it detracts from the show.
In series 5, BJ Penn and Jens Pulver didn't seem to like each other, but they coached their teams then when it was time they got it on and had a good fight. I hope Rampage and Rashad can do that.
Rampage's first pick was resoundingly Kimbo. In my opinion it was due to street cred rubbish. If he was the biggest pick why didn't he fight first. I love Kimbo's youtube stuff and can't wait to see him fight on TUF, win or lose. But don't wrap him in cotton wool, it will cement everyone's idea's that he doesn't belong and is just a ratings choice.
Bring on the fighting.

But how do the other fighters on Team Rampage feel about how much focus is being put on Kimbo as opposed to the whole team?
